Cooking with CBD: 5 Delicious Recipes

Edibles are a little different to sublingual oils, because they have a lower bioavailability and take longer to take effect. They also allow the CBD to be released more slowly over time. Because of this, edibles are great for treating conditions like chronic pain, where the CBD’s benefits can last for longer and keep symptoms at bay.

If you enjoy cooking and eating healthy, then cooking with CBD is a great option to try out. By creating your own CBD snacks, you can take a healthy dose of CBD each day in a super delicious way. Below are five easy recipes to try out for yourself, including simple sweet snacks and a tasty, immunity-boosting soup. Whether you’re a cooking novice or a professional chef in the making, these CBD recipes are easy as pie!

1. Dark Chocolate & CBD Peanut Butter Cups

These delicious CBD snacks are fantastic for upping your protein intake as well as getting a healthy dose of CBD. They’re easy to make and don’t require any baking, so anybody can make them. This recipe makes 24 cups, so the amount of CBD oil you use will depend on how much you want per cup. If you usually take 25 mg per day, for example, then you should add 600 mg of CBD into the recipe. Mix the CBD in well to spread it out evenly!

Serves: 24

What you need:

  • 12oz dark chocolate
  • 7 tablespoons coconut oil, divided
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • ¼ cup honey
  • CBD oil
  • Hemp hearts, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Add the dark chocolate, CBD oil, and 5 tablespoons of coconut oil to a bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is melted together.
  2. Add in the vanilla extract and stir to combine.
  3. Pour ½ of the chocolate mixture into a muffin tin, covering the mould about 1/3 of the way up the sides. Freeze for 15 minutes.
  4. In another bowl, mix the peanut butter, honey, and the remaining coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
  5. Pour the new mixture over the chocolate layers in the moulds. Leave enough room for a second layer of chocolate. Freeze for 10 minutes.
  6. Pour the remaining chocolate on top, up to the rims of the moulds. Sprinkle the hemp hearts on top, then freeze for one hour.
  7. Serve as and when you need – the cups will keep in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.

2. CBD Green Soup for the Soul

If you are feeling a little under the weather and need an immunity boost, then this soup is for you. The green, superfood ingredients are sure to have you feeling better in no time, and the addition of CBD is sure to help you get your immune system back in whack. You can eat these soup cold or hot, so make in bulk to eat over your sick days.

Serves: 8

What you need:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 cloves garlic, minced
  • Fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
  • 4 scallions, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons fresh oregano
  • 1 cup fresh parsley
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 6 cups vegetable stock
  • 4 cups swiss chard, chopped
  • 1 lb baby spinach
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • CBD oil – try a lemon or citrus flavour for added taste!
  • Pumpkin seeds, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add in the garlic, ginger, and scallions. Saute for 3 minutes until fragrant but not brown.
  2. Add in the oregano, parsley, cayenne, turmeric, black pepper, and soy sauce. Cook for 2 minutes until the herbs begin to wilt.
  3. Add in the broccoli and cook until bright green and releasing some moisture. This should take around 5 minutes.
  4. Add the vegetable stock. Cover, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for around 10 minutes until the broccoli begins softening.
  5. Add the Swiss chard and stir until wilted – around 30 seconds. Add in the spinach a few handfuls at a time, cooking until wilted. Stir each handful into the soup before adding more. Remove the soup from the heat when you are done – don’t overcook the greens.
  6. Cool the soup for 15 minutes, then transfer to a high-speed blender. Puree the soup to combine, then add in the avocado, lemon juice, CBD oil, and some salt to taste. Blend until creamy.
  7. Garnish with pumpkin seeds and serve hot or cold.

3. CBD Quinoa Protein Bites

Once again, these tasty snacks are great for improving protein intake. Quinoa is a great superfood, and adding CBD in will only help you better your health even further. Just like the chocolate peanut butter cups, add in the requisite amount of CBD to give you a daily serving per quinoa bite.

Serves: 20

You will need:

  • 2 cups kale, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/3 cup sun dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 4 large eggs
  • 4 cups quinoa, cooked and cooled
  • 1 cup oat flour
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • Olive oil
  • CBD Oil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350˚F. Grease a baking sheet.
  2. Drizzle some olive oil into a medium pan over medium heat. Saute the minced garlic and red pepper flakes for 1 minute until fragrant. Add the kale and cook until softened, then set aside. This should take about 3 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs, then add the quinoa, oat flour, kale mixture, CBD oil, oregano, basil, parsley, salt, and Parmesan. Mix well.
  4. Shape the quinoa mixture into 20 small patties, and place these on the baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Serve as and when you please! These bites will keep in the fridge for up to 6 days, or in the freezer for a month.

4. Cranberry Almond CBD Cookies

You might read the word ‘cookies’ here and think you are in for a cheat snack to break your gym routine. However, these are super healthy oat cookies that will curb your sugar cravings without ruining your diet. They make a great snack on the go, and will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth!

Serves: 13

You will need:

  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
  • 6 tablespoons water
  • ½ cup coconut oil, melted
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ¾ cup cranberries (can be dried or fresh)
  • ½ cup sliced almonds
  • CBD Oil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350˚F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the flax meal and water in a bowl. Let sit for 10 minutes to set. This is a flax egg mixture.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the coconut oil, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flax eggs, almond extract and CBD oil.
  4. Sift in the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and stir with a spatula until combined.
  5. Fold in the oats, cranberries, and sliced almonds.
  6. Scoop the cookies onto the baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 20-22 minutes until golden around the edges.
  8. Enjoy!

5. CBD Keto Bread

Whether you are an avid follower of the keto diet or are just cutting down on carbs, this recipe is great for cutting out bread. It’s incredibly easy to cook and makes for a great bread substitute. Plus, the addition of CBD is amazing for your diet – did you know that CBD and keto go hand in hand? What’s more, you don’t even have to switch on the oven!

Serves: 1

You will need:

  • 3 tablespoons almond flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • CBD Oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, and stir together with a fork until smooth. Don’t add in too much CBD for this recipe – a little high strength oil will do.
  2. Microwave the mixture on high for 90 seconds, until the bread has risen.
  3. Let the bread cool, then serve as desired.
  4. Try serving with smashed avocado and tomatoes, or even make a sandwich!
